Hydrogen Fuel Cells Vehicles as Future Alternative Of Transportation

Hydrogen fuel cells vehicles are considered as one of the best option that have very bright future ahead. This vehicle is simply using the hydrogen fuel cell generator to produce the electricity. This energy is chosen because it is able to give efficient performance but in a very low emission. At the first time of appearance, this kind of vehicle is having some downside on the subject of size, weight and the cost of the vehicle. When the technology is developed and new design is invented. These weaknesses are able to be overcome. In later event, people can see that the recent hydrogen fuel cells vehicle is having smaller design and more similar to traditional vehicle.

Hydrogen fuel cell itself is working similar to traditional battery. It has two electrodes that consist of anode and cathode. These electrodes are separated by a membrane. The oxygen will through in one electrode and at the same time, the hydrogen will goes through the other one. The hydrogen later will reacts to a catalyst on the electrode anode and convert the hydrogen energy gas to negative electrons and positive ions. The electrons will go out through the cell and later will be used for electrical energy. The ions itself will go through to the other way and bond with oxygen to produce water.

This hydrogen fuel cells vehicle is considered to have more energy efficient and cleaner if compared with the traditional vehicle. This is because, when there is no fossil energy is involved, there will be no carbon-dioxide that produced during the process and that will be very good for the environment. As seen in above explanation, the noticeable emission from this energy conversion is only water.

For the development of this hydrogen fuel cells vehicle itself, the project has been started since 208. However, the achievement on this technology is clearly seen when Nissan motors is starting to test their hydrogen vehicle in Japan. In 2010, Lotus has been devoted to produce hydrogen vehicle that later will be used for taxi in London. In 2011, Daimler is reported to test their B-class vehicle in Germany. Although it still be very limited in this years, Honda is ready to focus in this technology by starting to build hydrogen fuel station in various city like Saitama in Japan and Swindon in England. This company also claims that they are ready to throw their new hydrogen fuel cells vehicle to mass production in the year of 2020. So, it can be expected that many people will be able to enjoy this future technology soon enough.

Because it is not yet thrown to mass production and commercial usage, the cost that needed to possess this kind of vehicle is still hard to calculate. For the vehicle itself, it still hard to estimate the price because it depends on the manufacturer design. However, if when the production is going to be massive and the number of this hydrogen fuel cells vehicle is growing in number. It can be assured that the prices of the vehicle will gradually decreasing. This assumption will also apply on the hydrogen fuel itself. Since the demand of this fuel is not yet known, the price of this fuel will also decreased when it becomes public and starts to be familiar to be used to run the vehicle.
